The Seafield Trio are:
Shauna Mullin – Vocals
Alan Colfer – Guitar, Baritone Guitar, 5 String Banjo, Harmonium, Harmonica
Damien McGeehan – Fiddle, Octave Fiddle, Mandolin
These three musicians have been performing on and off together since first meeting as music students at the University of Limerick over 20 years ago. Donegal singer Shauna is renowned for her rich, velvety vocals, and has performed across the globe as a soloist and as lead singer with Danú and the David Munnelly Band. Her debut album ‘Wishing Tree’ was released in 2010. Also from Donegal, Damien is one of the most sought-after studio session musicians in the country. He is a founder member of the iconic fiddle trio ‘Fidil’ and has released two highly acclaimed solo albums: The Tin Fiddle from 2016 (recorded using a fiddle made out of tin from the early 20th century), and Kin from 2021. Waterford native Alan is a highly regarded fingerstyle guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. He has performed extensively across Ireland and Europe as a soloist and accompanist, and has worked as guitar tutor at the Irish World Academy of Music at the University of Limerick since 2008.
Their new album ‘Alone Awhile’ features beautiful arrangements of
traditional songs along with unique interpretations of more contemporary songs from
artists such as Tom Waits and Bob Dylan.
“The voice of Shauna Mullin is beyond compare, the dark polished wood, the moonlight shining through a cobweb, her songs are possessed of a stillness and serenity, warm communication and a bewitching richness of sound”. Ellen Cranitch, RTÉ
